Joydeep Mukherjee’s journey to inspire and empower aspiring musicians
Joydeep Mukherjee, a celebrated sarod player from West Bengal, is a distinguished multi-instrumentalist and a passionate revivalist of rare Indian classical instruments. A performer from the Senia Shahjehanpur Gharana, he has emerged as a powerful voice in preserving India’s classical music heritage through instruments like the Sursingar, Mohanveena, Tanseni Rabab, and Sur-Rabab. His work has earned national recognition and respect across cultural, academic, and political circles. Recently he restored six rare sarods of last 200 years belonging to his Gharana which was well appreciated and receipted in the Gulf, comparing his work and contribution along with the legends like Baba Allauddin Khan, Ali Akbar Khan, Radhika Mohan Maitra and Amjad Ali Khan.
